"With the current industry recognition that commercial radio is horrible for music, Ballard further noted that artists should not even consider radio when composing. "The minute you go into writing, if you're thinking about radio, you're in the wrong place. Radio is in a different business from us. They sell advertising space and we make music. Occasionally our goals converge, but not often."On a positive note, Ballard pointed to the increased opportunities for marketing music in games and telephones. Music in phones may be an especially important market, with "millions upon millions in China alone."View from the Executive Suite.Lia Vollack is President of Worldwide Music for Sony Pictures Entertainment. A former music editor and music supervisor, she has the ability to step in for hands-on assignments in addition to overseeing all aspects of film music and soundtracks for Columbia, Screen Gems, and Sony Pictures Animation. Additionally, she works with Revolution Studios, Sony Pictures Classics, and all Sony Local Language Productions.Although she readily admits to the downside of the business, many of her statements were quite positive: "Artists are more committed to quality," Vollack noted, adding "Inspiration is the main point up front, and then comes the deal." She urged all those in the profession to "aspire to brilliance."Chris Douridas is still most widely known for hosting radio programming on National Public Radio stations, yet it is his work as music supervisor and consultant that makes him notable in the industry. Among the many films on which he has worked are "Shrek 2," "Under the Tuscan Sun," "One Hour Photo," "American Beauty," the "Austin Powers" films, "As Good As It Gets," and "Grosse Pointe Blank." He is a consultant for Apple's iTunes and a part of Dreamworks."The challenge," Douridas points out, "is finding films directed by people with a vision that includes the music." Using examples of how music selections have interacted with filmmaker's concepts, he emphasized that it is "important to have the artist invested emotionally."The Mark of the Composer. From his days with Devo, the most dadaistic rock group ever released on a major label, up to his latest film score, Mark Mothersbaugh has brought a unique perspective to sonics and the business of having a career in the music industry. He has composed for a wide array of film and television projects, including "Rugrats" (TV, film and stage versions), "The Royal Tenenbaums," "Rushmore," "Thirteen," "Happy Gilmore," and the forthcoming films, "Lords of Dogtown" and "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou."Responding to insightful and often humorous questions from Melinda Newman, Billboard's West Coast Bureau Chief, Mothersbaugh covered a wide range of topics, including composing for commercials: "I always liked the creepy way commercials work their music into your brain." He agreed with Newman that "They're subversive." On the needs of filmmakers: "Directors are looking for music that compliments the universe that their movie has created." On composing for so many children's television programs: "There are advantages to scoring kids shows. You can mix mambos and heavy metal."Newman pointed out that Mothersbaugh did the music score for several films dealing with young women who were coming-of-age, including "Thirteen," "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen," "Drop Dead Gorgeous," and others. "Is it difficult to get into the mindset of a teenage girl?" Newman asked. "Well, wardrobe is important," Mothersbaugh replied. Also participating during the well-organized conference were such industry notables as Burt Berman, womens wedding rings and more
As we waited friends spread out cuttings from roses and other bushes across the pavement on the route the bride and groom would take to the church. This is meant to bring the couple good luck and fortune and in other areas of France neighbours will lay down sheaves of corn. Then the moment arrived as the couple stood at the top of the steps outside the Mairie and slowly made their way to the church, escorted by their parents.Traffic came to a standstill as the procession of guests followed behind and walked the 150 meters to the church. In the afternoon sunshine people slowly made their way into the church filling up the pews and taking up positions in the aisle for the chance to take a picture.Once everyone was inside, and we must have numbered 200 or more, the bride and groom slowly made their way through the church.Camera flashes lit up the dark entranceway as the couple made their way along the aisle; the organist played a tune that softly filled the church. The priest opened the blessing with a short passage from the bible and then Sabine walked up to the microphone to deliver a short speech. She thanked the many people that had turned up to see the bride and groom and that it had been an incredible day. Then the priest delivered a short prayer and a musical interlude with saxophone and accordion was played. The ceremony of the passing of the rings was undertaken with the assistance of the sonwhite gold wedding rings and more

There are many bird fanciers that have put their expertise to providing doves for release at events in their local area.It is easy to have a spectacular white dove release at your own wedding that is just as enchantingas it would have been for people that participated in the weddings of ancient times (probably much more!). WHite dove releasing is an art-form. There is much more to it than meets the eye. In order to explain this, I am going to reveal a secret to you. (SHHH! Don't tell anyone!)The White Doves that go to weddings are actually white racing pigeons. Doves and Pigeons are a bit like cousins in the animal world. They are not exactly the same, but they are very similar. Only a bird expert would be able to spot the difference at a wedding. It is important that only pigeons are released at weddings. The reason for this is that the pigeons have a homing instinct, the ability to fly back to their home after they are released.Whereas real doves would just fly up into a tree. You can't get them back so they'd have to fend for themselves. How very cruel! That is where the "art-form" I was talking about comes into it.Professional Dove Releasers start by selectively breeding the most beautiful white pigeons, with the pigeons that have the stongest homing instinct. This happens long beforethey attend your wedding, taking everyone's breath away. There is a lot of effwhite gold diamond wedding ring and more

In my case, birds from the Heavenly Doves loft must be able to fly home from anywhere in Sydney.(Racing pigeons can fly back to their home loft from hundreds or thousands of kms away).Using racing pigeons is the only humane way to release "doves" because the birds will always go home to be well cared for with plenty of food, water and security after the ceremony is over.We also choose the birds with a good nature and get them used to being handled by people (especially nervous newlyweds)so that you can be confident that the doves will be relaxed at your ceremony - No pecking Birds! The other aspect of the "art-form" is the way that the doves are presented and released at your wedding. It is essential to have an experienced dove release attendant at the wedding. Firstly because we have a whole assortmentof ornamental cages and baskets that you can choose to have your doves displayed in, plus you have the choice of releasing the doves from your hands or directly from their cage or basket.Secondly, an important part of a good dove release is the placement of the doves and the timing. By this I mean performing the dove release at the best location and during the part of the ceremony that makes it a memorable experience for the bride, groom and guests. We make it a high priority to ensure good photos and video footagetoo. Professional Dove releasers have to go to many weddings to learn good placement and timing. You may have seen an email going around recently. It is a picture of a pair of newlyweds releasing their doves by hand. The groom is in a pin-striped coat and the bride is wearing a strapless white satin dress. The couple are enthusiastically tossing their doves into the air. But it's not only the doves that find their freedom. The brides breasts managed to escape from her dress when she threw her dove into the air. Their photographer managed to capture the event perfectly!I am telling you this story because it is another reason to hire professional dove releasers.I know it feels great to hurl the doves into the air at the end of your wedding ceremony. But we have always recommended to our clients that you only have to open your hands to let the doves free (even if the bride is wearing a cast-iron bra and a dress with straps of steel so there is no danger of exposing herself). The reasons we tell people NOT to throw the doves are, firstly, the doves need no encouragement to fly away. They love to fly and can't wait to get out of your hands. But more importantly, when you see the photos of the dove release in months to come, you will probably think that you look ridiculous with your hands up in the air doing the "hallelujah" pose. These are all the aspects that professional dove releasers consider when taking doves to your wedding.Another thing, if you are considering incorporating a white dove release into your ceremony, don't (I repeat DON'T) let one of the groom's know-it-all mates organise it for you! These are the kinds of blokes who would twestern wedding rings and more

It is easiest to bring clothes with you. We recently saw a panicked groom in the Bahamas wearing a tuxedo shirt, coat, cummerbund -- and a pair of jeans. The stressed-out groom was racing for the lobby door to meet a clothier who had located a pair of tuxedo pants after the groom's were lost in his luggage. Don't let this happen to you! Also, carry all original documents--including birth certificates and divorce papers, if applicable--in your hand luggage. Don't pack these in checked luggage!

Seemedfairly logical that I grab a spring roll and dowse it insome spicy papaya sauce before it becomes a leftover. Before I could even put the first bite in my mouth a pair ofwomen rounded the table and handed us all the utensils weneeded. "Kop Chi Li Li" or thank you spewed from mouthabout 100 times in the next 3 minutes. They either likedthe way I pronounced the phrase or had giant hearts becausetheir smiles stretched from ear to ear.The buffet had what appeared to most of the staples of theLaos diet. There was a type of yellow chicken curry, somespicy beef, spingrolls, fresh vegetables and a giant vat ofsticky rice. Within seconds of loading up our plates thetwo drunkest 20-year olds at the party pulled up four chairsfor us. One for our plates and the other for our asses. Before even taking my first bit I had a 1/3 glass full ofBeerLao between my eyes. This is where the story takes a dramatic twist. It is notbecause I started drinking. Thats a little later. Thetwist is because this story is being composed for BreakMagazine and they dont allow any references to drugs oralcohol. Therefore I have written two versions. The onewhere I drink myself to a point where I believe I canunderstand the Lao language is the version you are reading.Although we were given utensils I chose to forego thewesternization of the land and eat using the dippingtechnique utilized by most people. Three bites in and onceagain a 1/3 full glass of BeerLao is between my eyes. Theyoung man offering the glass was pimped out in a blacktuxedo and appeared to be the kind of guy whom you shouldaccept a drink from. Another "kop chi li li", a swig fromhis glass and we were friends. I pulled up another chairfor the special guest and we began to speak. Theconversation took a slow start. Not because of tuxedo man,but rather because I had been so used to talking to peoplewho spoke absolutely no English, that I was conversing likea trained monkey. Shortly into the conversation I learned Pond was indeed thehonored guest at what I learned was his wedding. Thehandsome 24-year old had just been hitched and he oozedelation. As I scarified down my food I learned he works forthe Lao government as an AIDS educator. He also told usabout a cousin of his who lives in NYC and his desire to mytown. My door will always be open. Laotian men usually marry in there twenties. The bride isusually younger. She will most likely be from the samevillage and will probably be related in some degree becausemost villages are small. Couples choose each other, but theheads of both families decide when the couple will marry, where they will live, and what bride price must be paid tothe girls father. This is usually in currency, although inolden times it was in livestock or grain. The grooms family delivers the bride price to the bridesfather on the day before the wedding. The groomsrelatives parade to the brides house with gifts of food, tobacco, betel and so on. The groom makes his formalrequest for the bride. Her family, after a long-winded,purely ceremonial show of reluctance finally agrees. In thepresence of a bonze or village elder, the couple isofficially betrothed. The next day, the groom and hisrelatives again proceed to the brides house, where theymake a great show of fighting and bribe their way into theyard. The groom must persuade the brides sister to washhis feet before he can ascend the steps to the house andclaim his bride.Divorce is rare in Laos, partly because each marriageconcerns everyone in two large, extended families. If amarriage is dissolved, the bride price has to be returned, and there are endless complications concerning inheritanceand land use. It is much more sensible to compromise.Working things out, in general, is the Laotian response toalmost every conflict. Isnt that a novel idea?In the background we watched the nucleus of the party dance.Thankfully there are no traditions of the Marquerena orchicken dance in Laos. This is one of the things Imhappiest about. Tonight they danced the Lamvong. Its acombination folk dance and courting ritual. Girls dance inplace with short, rhythmic steps, while boys weave circlesaround them; no one touches. The faces of the dancers arecompletely expressionless, but their arms and hands wave incomplicated patterns expressive of love and devotion.Frankly, unless you are Laotian, you will end up lookinglike a queen doing this jig.The groom apologized to us that the party we crashed wasalmost over. He insisted we accompany him to twedding rings quilt pattern and more

Sponsorship has its privileges. If you can find local businesses to donate their products and services in return for advertising at your reception, sponsorship may be a consideration. If your preference is to remain in the states, conduct a search on Google.com, using the key word combination, place to elope, will return some 8,000 possibilities. Then work backwards, set a target budget for your wedding/honeymoon and let the destination dictate your wedding. Bear in mind, the average cost of a honeymoon is almost four thousand dollars. Without the added expense of a wedding, hopefully you can afford to spend a little more on your romantic getaway.Once you and your fianc have agreed on a destination, take 1 2 weeks to conduct a cost analysis and logistic research.

Think outside of the bridal gown. A low-lost location, Veuve Clicquot, finger food and guests clad in casual attire is a nice way to celebrate your connubial union. Moreover, a historic landmark, a public garden or the local art gallery may feature inexpensive rental fees. With the cocktail party, all the elements that go into planning a full-blown wedding are unnecessary (fittings, rehearsal dinners, transportation, gift registration, et cetera).Regardless of your marriage ceremony decision it a choice you will have to live with for the rest of your life. But then again, after you are married, you have the rest of your life to plan the perfect celebration.About The Author

Most airplanes have coat closets and will allow travelers to hang garment bags. Check with your airline.Grooms should also carry the clothing needed for the ceremony. If you're getting married in the Caribbean, you won't find many tuxedo rental shops in the islands.

Some people might not know whatthe word "crash" means in the first sentence. For those ofyou who have been sheltered from large communitycenters/bowling alleys for the duration of your lives I canunderstand. Its been my experience that a bowling alley inthe same venue as a wedding reception brings out the largestproportion of uninvited guests or what we like to call"wedding crashers."That certainly wasnt the case here. THE sunshine had come out to ensure the wedding of footballer Benji and his wife-to-be Sabine had the perfect backdrop. For the month before the excitement had been growing amongst the players and supporters of St Cernin de lHerm, a village in the south west of France, as the day came ever closer. We had already been out for a meal and made the bride andwedding rings clip art and more
In the afternoon sunshine people slowly made their way into the church filling up the pews and taking up positions in the aisle for the chance to take a picture.Once everyone was inside, and we must have numbered 200 or more, the bride and groom slowly made their way through the church.Camera flashes lit up the dark entranceway as the couple made their way along the aisle; the organist played a tune that softly filled the church. The ceremony of the passing of the rings was undertaken with the assistance of the son of Sabine and Benji. He carried the rings up to the alter of the church in a small, padded heart shaped bag and passed them to the priest. The couple spoke a few words and placed the rings on each others fingers as the cameras again flashed a whirred.Everyone then began to make their way out of the church waiting for the bride and groom to stand outside the church for some more photographs. But the players of St Cernin had one more trick up their shirts as we donned our kit and picked up a football each.We made a guard of honour outside the church and held a ball high over the guests as they made their way out into the village square. But it was Benji and Sabine who everyone was waiting for.People passed around rice and confetti waiting for them to leave the church and run under the footballs, as they did the place exploded. The church bell tolled and rice cascaded down on our heads covering the players and the newly married couple from head to toe. Then it was time for more photographs, car horns sounding and the children throwing rice and confetti atwedding rings bands and more

The most prized nephrite jade in New Zealand is flower jade, jade with pale green or ochre clouds of colour. This distinctive patterning and colouring comes from the outside rim or 'rind' of the jade boulders or stones where the surface has oxidized. Maori appreciation of jade centres on these features: patterns that seem to evoke images of forests, rivers and clouds.Jade from around the worldJade is found in many countries around the world but commercial quantities are found in only a few. On any field where jade is found, whether it is in New Zealand Canada or China, only 5% of all jade mined will be AAA grade or what we know as "jewelry grade jade" - stone that can be used for fine carving or jewelry. This grade of jade is translucent, has perfect clarity and no fractures. Each region has its own highly prized stone. In Australia, we look for jade that is a deep black colour. In Canada, highly sought after stone has bright green flecks through it. The best quality Russian jade can be very white with a root beer colour rind, or a very pale almost teal colour.New Zealand CarvingsPounamu has special significance for the Maori. The Maori believe that Pounamu absorbs the 'mana' or spiritual power of its wearer. The Maori also believe that a piece of Pounamu will always yearn to return to its source in the rivers and mountains of New Zealand. New Zealand jade carving is unique in its designs and forms. We owe this to the Maori who have refined techniques of working with the stone over a long period of time. We can trace their use of Pounamu back to the twelfth century. Because of its extreme hardness, Pounamu was used by the Maori for weapons and tools. It was also prized by the Maori for ornaments - pendants and earrings. Many of the designs you see today are contemporary interpretations of traditional designs, which have been carved for centuries such as the hei matua (fish hook), the tiki (representing man) and the manaia (serpent form). It can be said that all jade carving has an organic dimension. New Zealand carving is dynamic and diverse - a fact evidenced by the increasing numbers of new and talented sculptors and carvers, each creating their own unique designs from their own particular sources of inspiration, whether that be Maori, Pacific, Asian or Celtic. The Process of Jade CarvingJade carving is a painstaking and exacting art form. A carver first needs to study the stone to see where its strengths and beauty lie, in terms of colour, clarity and patterning. Some carvers call this "the heart of the stone". The carver works to bring the heart of the stone to the fore. To do this, a rough shape is first cut out on a diamond bladed trim saw. Pre-forming, the grinding of edges of the rough shape follows. A high-speed grinder then shapes the piece into its final form. Still the surface needs to be polished - through a series of increasing finer grades of sand paper until the desired finish, from smooth and satin to a highly polished gloss, is achieved.About the AuthorDavid Finlay is the co-founder of www.silverfernz.com an online shopping site delivering the best crafts and gifts from New Zealand.Whichever comes first (Bismarck Tribune)

He insisted we accompany him to the parents ofhis wifes house for an after party. The two guys sittingnext to us indicated that they would escort us to the party.Pond cordially dismissed himself and affirmed ourattendance. As soon as the 48-ounce bottle of BeerLao was cashed wewould head out. As the pace and the amount of the beer inthe glass increased I decided to engage the transportationquestion. I was pretty sure these guys had scooters.Frankly Im not a big fan of riding on the back of thosethings in any situation. In addition, I was positive boththese guys were half in the bag. Through struggled wordsand gulps of beer I asked our new friends about drinking anddriving. About the AuthorJoseph Kultgen is co-founder of www.trekshare.com and haswedding ring south india and more
The palace has 85 beautiful rooms along with special suites and fascinates everyone with its lustrous marble pillars, ancient paintings and unbelievable works of arts including glasswork. I almost felt like staying in a fantasy island with my room overlooking a refreshing lily pond. Udaipur also has many other palace hotels but none can be compared to the Lake Palace. I was also fascinated by the Laxmi Vilas Palace which was once a guest house to serve British guests. Bikaner house (Bharatpur House) In Mount AbuMount Abu in Rajasthan is another hill station that fascinated me. Mount Abu has a host of palace hotels as this was a favorite hill station for the Maharajas. I decided to stay in the Bikaner House palace which is located in one of the most scenic locations in Mount Abu. This palace built in 1893 was used as a summer residence for the ancient kings. The palace is well maintained and has spacious rooms that have ancient paintings and art work. The rooms overlook mystic hills that look so much in peace with them-selves. It almost gave me a heaven on earth kind of an experience. One more palace hotel which fascinated me in Mount Abu was the Sunrise palace which is situated in one its highest points. This palace hotel was built somewhere in the year 1920, and is quite popular with couples looking for a romantic getaway. Nilambagh Palace in BhavnagarMy objective of visiting Bhavnagar, a relatively lesser known tourist destination in western India was to stay in the famous Nilambagh Palace. Built by Maharaja Bhavsinghji in the year 1723 this palace looks like a piece of architecture in itself. The palace is surrounded by lush gardens and has 18 AC rooms and 5 cottages. The rooms are spacious and offer an extremely luxurious stay. The room in which I was put up overlooked beautiful lawns down below; and I could hear the birds chirping and the wind blowing mildly over me. The whole atmosphere was so tranquil; it really took me to a different world. The best part about the palace was the way it has been designed and maintained. All rooms had antique furniture, beautiful chandeliers and belgian mirrors. Then there was this striking swimming pool that has been designed like a roman bath with marble steps and white walkways. Taking a dip in that exotic pool which was specifically meant for the maharajas was I thought a true privilege. The palace on WheelsThe palace on Wheels is not a hotel or a palace, but a maharaja style train that is run by the government of India for tourism purposes. I was recommended to make this train journey by a fellow traveler and believe me; I was glad I took his advice. This train is designed for the purpose of giving its voyagers a taste of ancient India and covers all major destinations and heritage spots in Rajasthan. Starting from Delhi (the Indian capital), the train takes you to all major destinations in Rajasthan that include Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Agra and back to Delhi in a seven day journey. I really got a good insight about the tales of Indian kings and queens and their lifestyles at the end of these seven unforgettable days. The interiors of the train look no less than a five star palace hotel and that goes for the rooms too. The rooms are comfy, contain artistic furniture and include a private bath; now what more could you ask for? When boarding my plane back home, there was a strange nostalgic feeling that had crept over me. But I was glad of one thing; I had lived out my dream of living like an Indian Maharaja.About the Authorhttp://www.bizbrim.com is an information portal that offers quality information on topics like outsourcing, mortgage, education, email marketing, affiliate marketing, hotels and travel. Sponsorship has its privileges. If you can find local businesses to donate their products and services in return for advertising at your reception, sponsorship may be a consideration. More couples are bartering a bit of promotion along with their nuptials, for complimentary or discounted goods and services. Not all vendors will chomp at the bit to sponsor your special day. Certain vendors will appreciate the benefit of branding their company, directly to a target audience. Plan to approach a minimum of 100 vendors. Smaller and newer companies are more apt to participate. The ideal sponsorship situation is a win-win, for all. In example, the media buy for advertising costs 3-4 times the cost of the average sponsorship.Sample Wedding Sponsorship Letter Dear Marketing Department:Were seeking sponsorship in exchange for media coverage and free publicity. Mary BudgetwrightThe ElopementElopement is self-indulgent bliss. There is nothing more relaxing then a well-planned elopement. Select an island: Kabel Santorini, Portofino, Turks and Caicos, Aruba, or wherever you prefer. Without the added expense of a wedding, hopefully you can afford to spend a little more on your romantic getaway.Once you and your fiancé have agreed on a destination, take 1 2 weeks to conduct a cost analysis and logistic research.

This of course is not a researched fact, but Im willing to bet anyone 100,000 kip that in two weeksyou couldnt find any sign of the leisure sport of thedrunk. Lawn bowling doesnt count. For all I know lawnbowling or "bocce ball" is their national sport eclipsedonly by badminton and a game of hands-free volleyball playedwith a wicker ball. The name eludes me almost as much asthe skill needed to play the sport. The truth is I was hungry. A traditional Lao massageadministered by blind women in the late afternoon completelywiped me out and I had just woken at 11PM from a 4-hour nap.If youre still reading this you might wonder how does oneget "wiped out" from a massage. Arent these thingssupposed to be relaxing? Yeah and no. Primarily NO in mycase. It appears that the muscles from my toes to my thighsdont like to be physically manipulated away from the boneas the massage suggests. For a mere 30,000 Kip or $3 US an hour massage from a skilled therapist seems like a greatdeal. That is if sometime in that hour you dont burst allthe blood vessels in your face from wincing so hard. If mytherapist hadnt been blind Im pretty sure she would havethought she was killing me. I would have felt like a pussso I broke out the yoga breathing and prayed not to succumbto hyperventilation. Regardless, it was now 11PM and if I didnt move from myguesthouse quickly there would be little chance of findingany late night eatery in Luang Prabang. Places tend to closeafter the electricity cuts at 9PM.Things looked bleak uwedding ring set and more
